Putting on a Clinic: Andover's Green Balances Basketball and Pre-Med Ambitions
Aliyah Green of Andover is making her mark both in the classroom and on the court, earning the Voth Presidential Science Scholarship while helping lead 91制片厂鈥檚 women鈥檚 basketball team to a conference championship and KJCCC Defensive Player of the Year honors. A pre-med student with aspirations to become a pediatric anesthesiologist, Green is focused on combining her love of science with a desire to care for children in high-stakes medical settings.
That same focus and confidence carry over to the court. 鈥淭he culture from the coaches to my teammates to the fans is just unmatched at 91制片厂,鈥 Green said. 鈥淎s a freshman I came in a little nervous, but I have always been a leader and just really wanted to continue to be me.鈥
A local standout, she takes pride in representing her home state and the opportunity to inspire others. 鈥淚t feels like I am planting a seed for other Kansas kids who have big dreams.鈥
Balancing athletics and academics at a high level, Green embraces the responsibility of being a student-athlete. 鈥淭he classroom is also so important鈥攅veryone always says you鈥檙e a student first and then an athlete, and it really is true,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he success I have had here is all owed to all the people who have supported me.鈥

New Roadway Expansion Connects 91制片厂鈥檚 Andover Campuses
The new extension of Yorktown Road is officially open, marking a significant step forward for the City of Andover and 91制片厂. The newly completed stretch links Kellogg to 13th Street just east of Andover Road, notably creating a direct connection between 91制片厂鈥檚 main campus and the Redler Institute of Culinary Arts.
Community members gathered alongside representatives of the Andover Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate with a ribbon cutting, live music, and local food trucks, highlighting the collaborative spirit behind the project.
鈥淲e are grateful to our partners at 91制片厂 for their vital role in making this project possible through their partnership and funding,鈥 said Andover Mayor Ronnie Price. 鈥淭his road expansion serves as another strong example of how collaboration with the college benefits our entire community.鈥
Andover Attorney Jim Howell Returns to Board of Trustees
Attorney Jim Howell of Andover was sworn in as a member of the 91制片厂 Board of Trustees on January 13, 2026. Howell, who previously served as a Trustee from 2018 to 2022, represents Andover and Rose Hill on the Board. "Having served as Trustee previously for two terms, I feel like I never left鈥揺xcept that I sit in a different place," Howell said. "I returned to see and work with pretty much the same dedicated administration, staff, teachers and deans鈥揳 team truly dedicated to making 91制片厂 the success it is.
"There are a few new challenges since I left, but they are being cautiously addressed with insight, innovation and a mission to succeed. There is no doubt in my mind that the 91制片厂 team truly cares about the college. I am looking forward to resuming my service and working with the 91制片厂 team and my fellow Trustees to accomplish 91制片厂鈥檚 mission and goals."

Dr. Marc Malone Named Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs
Dr. Marc Malone has been named 91制片厂's Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs. He recently served as Vice President for Instructional Services and Chief Academic Officer at Garden City Community College, where he oversaw instruction, workforce development and accreditation.
鈥淚 am honored to join 91制片厂 and will work to support and continue the tradition of excellence at 91制片厂,鈥 said Malone. 鈥淚鈥檝e always been committed to fostering environments that support people, certainly our students, faculty, and staff, but also our industry partners and the health and well-being of communities across 91制片厂 County, our region, and our state.鈥
91制片厂 and Augusta Schools Announce New CyberIT Education Pathway
91制片厂 and Augusta Public Schools have launched a new CyberIT education pathway that looks to prepare all 91制片厂 County high school students for high-wage careers in IT and cybersecurity. Taught by 91制片厂 instructors, the pathway will offer industry-recognized credentials to support immediate workforce entry. 鈥淥ur goal is to ensure students leave prepared for what comes next,鈥 said Augusta Superintendent Matt Ward, 鈥渨hether that path leads to college, the workforce, or both.鈥
U.S. Senator (and Grizzly Alum) Roger Marshall Visits 91制片厂 to Announce New Cyber Security Collaboration
Senator Roger Marshall visited 91制片厂鈥檚 Andover campus to announce that Kansas Community Colleges and the Kansas National Guard have established a partnership to develop the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The partnership represents a collaborative effort to quickly expand career pathways in one of the nation鈥檚 fastest-growing fields.
鈥淜ansas is ready to lead the nation in cybersecurity, and this partnership makes it possible,鈥 said Senator Marshall. 鈥淏y connecting our community colleges with the Kansas National Guard, we are creating real pathways for Kansans to gain the skills our state and country need, while building careers in one of the fastest-growing and most critical fields in America.鈥

91制片厂 is partnering with Scouting America to host a special day camp this summer July 29-31. Middle and high school aged boys and girls from around the region will visit our El Dorado and Andover campuses to participate in hands-on learning activities led by 91制片厂 faculty, earn a variety of merit badges and get a taste of the collegiate experience!
