鈥91制片厂 has been so good to me,鈥 Peterson remarked. 鈥91制片厂 has provided me with a platform to create and produce my own work. Thanks to 91制片厂, Alvin the Alligator was created. He has entertained elementary school children for the past 22 years.鈥&苍产蝉辫;
Alvin the Alligator, an annual piece created by Peterson about a friendly alligator named Alvin, has become a generational favorite activity for local families. Many parents who attended the plays when they were younger now share that experience with their own children.
Peterson鈥檚 career began in 1972 as a Topeka High School teacher. Multi-award-winning actress Jayne Houdyshell, who won a Tony Award for her role in The Humans, was one of Peterson鈥檚 first students.
鈥淢y students constantly inspire me,鈥 Peterson said. 鈥淭hey continue to motivate me in ways they don鈥檛 understand. I have been very proud of my students. Many have worked in the industry and beyond 鈥 from working in the film industry to professional theatre to teachers to lawyers to being fine parents.鈥&苍产蝉辫;
Following his time at Topeka High School, he taught at Newman University and then started his position at 91制片厂 in 1981. The first play he directed at 91制片厂 was A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and the first play he wrote and produced at 91制片厂 was called First Boy. Peterson has even acted in one of his own works, entitled Barbershop Quartet.
鈥淚 later wrote and directed Heaven Ajar, the story about President Coolidge鈥檚 sons,鈥 Peterson enthused. 鈥淚 wrote in cooperation with President Coolidge鈥檚 oldest son, John. I have reworked it and presented it at 91制片厂 under the title of Angels Charge.鈥&苍产蝉辫;
Although Peterson鈥檚 professional involvement with 91制片厂 is coming to 鈥渃urtains closed,鈥 he is looking forward to moving on with personal endeavors. 鈥淚 look at retirement as Act Three,鈥 Peterson expressed. 鈥淚 have several projects planned. I look forward to having the time to realize them.鈥&苍产蝉辫;
